However, fashion is still a strong element no matter where you go, so stick to our tips and you’ll be sweet!

Warped Fashion
As Sandi Thorn would sing “I wish I was a punk rocker, with flowers in my hair”, this should be the motto of Warp as it wraps up Warp fashion in a nice bubble. With the large hair, spikes, chain, black and band t-shirts everywhere. Warp fashion shows the love of the festival in all clothing and body creation (tattoos, piercings) elements. So pull out your hairspray to get that bold hair perfect and your punk rocker clothing to rock your way to The Warped Tour.

Getting into the 'blues-y' feel: Bluesfest Fashion
Yes, a five year get away may seem like an amazing week to kick back and jam to the best beats and don’t get me wrong, it definitely is. But
Fashion is a big part of the Bluesfest fun. With the dusty gumboots, pork pie hates, band-branded T-shirts and feathers everywhere. Bluesfest is your 'Earth Fashion' Festival.

Hippie-shic: Woodford style
You may think that you have the Big Day Out fashion wrapped up but it’s time to change to the “Hippie” look. Woodford is known for their
originality, their peacefulness and their high on life personality. Its time to embrace the fluorescent colours and baggy pants in order to get ready to jam to some of the folkiest bands of all time. Although a Folk Festival, Woodfordia brings the community together so you definitely don’t want to be looking like a nomad in your outfit.

WHAT not to wear: festival style ( BDO)
Now, you may be wondering why we decided to include fashion in the survival section. WELL, nobody wants to stick out like a sore-festival-first-timer-thumb! So here are some Do-s and Don't-s, with love, from a very fashion savvy 'The Line-Up' team member!
Fashion:
No matter what you’re there to see at Big Day Out, whether you’re going to be spending the whole day with the newly improved “Snoop Lion”. Or hanging out with some of the low-key chill bands, what is worn or in some cases not worn is definitely a highlight every year. Last year Big Day Out saw the big, the bad, the barely anything and the bras as bands including Vampire Weekend got a sneak peek at what Future is normally like with boobs on the big screen. Now ladies, this is a big DON’T in not only the fashion department but also at Big Day Out. Big Day Out, is known for their hip in-style fashion, so here are some do’s and don’ts for both the sexes when choosing your BDO outfits.

Ladies Tips: It’s hot and it’s time to rock! Dressing for a Fest. is definitely tough, it’s not just a time to rock out to the bands, it’s a
time to let loose and impress too! DO-s · Do wear your short stuff, appropriately of course. BDO is known for the sweltering weather. · Do rock out your newest shorts, shorts are definitely a key factor at Big Day Out. Its easy and when taking a seat, don’t have to worry about flashing! · Do rock the mid-drift! BDO is known for the chicks in the short shorts and the mid drift singlet’s and although it may seem weird but it looks effective! · Do be comfortable! If you’re not cool with the shorts and shirt, go for a hip dress! They are everywhere, easy, flowing and looks great! - Do wear your converse, your vans, your hip tops. Not only rounds off the festival look but definitely helps the feet at the end of the day. · Do bring a small satchel or a cute, but handy, backpack. · Do be funky with your hair, wear it out, or rock the high loose ponytail. - Do wear your hippie bracelets/anklets and lots of them! This is the time to pull them out of your summer draw and stack them on! · Do bring your lip balm! Keep that pout hydrated! · Do BE YOURSELF! DON’T-s · Don’t wear open shoes! BDO is a dusty place at most venues and definitely feels gross after 10 hours grooving! · Don’t forget the sunglasses! You’ll be squinting all day. · Don’t wear tight jeans and a jumper! Cold or not, there’ll be 1000 people there keeping you warm or you’ll be so sweaty and you have to carry it around all day. · Don’t forget a hair tie or a pair of bobby pins in the pocket, trust me, you’ll need them! - Don’t wear too many tight things at once, it’s too hot for sticky clothes. Gentlemen Tips: It’s hard to be a male, dressing to impress, dressing to rave and dressing to be comfortable. Big Day Out is known for the boys to have the shirt on at the start and in the pants at the end.
DO-s · Do wear your singlets, loose is best. Or a hippy polo! · Do wear your tight shorts or your jeans if that makes you feel comfortable. · Do wear your vans, converse or thongs (although, the recommendation re. open shoes still applies). · Do bring your sunglasses. · Do bring your snapbacks. DON’T-s · Don’t forget your sunglasses, it’s a big thing for the boys. · Don’t bring a jumper, brave it out, everyone else will. · Don’t wear clothes that constrain your movement, move freely boys! hall of fame (and infamy) |
