hEATWAVEDehydration is so avoidable. So is sunburn. So is skin damage. Your face should be red because you are screaming along with Amity Affliction, not because you didn’t sun block-up. And if you faint at Soundwave, hope that it’s because Billie from Greenday winked at you and not because you forgot what water was.

Soundwave is located at each locations’ biggest showground, often located next to most states CBD’s. What's What at Warped
Coffs Harbour
Coffs Harbour situated between Sydney and Brisbane, is a deluxe little place to lay back and put your feet up. This is definitely needed after a long day going hard at the Warp beats. Why not try the Bonville Lodge Luxury Bed and Breakfast? Bonville Lodge, rated four stars, is a well maintained two bedroom with a veranda, pool and garden views. Away from the busy highway, it’s just a small travel towards your large Warp Tour grounds. |
WeatherHere are my forecasts: your Doc Martens will be sweat buckets and your eyeliner will be running more than Usain Bolt. That black Sex Pistols singlet will turn into an oven for your torso and your thick tartan skirt, while breezy, will emerge from a mosh pit soaked in the sweat of hundreds of strangers. BUT there are ways to stay cool, trust me!
· Handheld fans, electric or geisha style, would usually be considered douch-ey but you will the green tinge of envy in every fan-less person’s eye. · Replenish your temple-like body with water often, staying hydrated with beer isn’t possible. · Sunscreen up so, though the memories of the wicked day won’t fade, your sunburn will. Who's at WarpedOver the years literally millions of fans have attended Warped festival around the world. Last year 556,000 black skinny jean clad punks attended the festival worldwide. This was the festivals third best turn out, and with Australia added to the tour it looks like this year could be a record breaker! All those people require a whole lot of music, and this year the tour includes 135 acts to keep those fans happy. One. Hundred. And thirty five. Bands. Think of all the groupies! Hats of to you Warped, you sure do know how to put on a show.
AccomodationVans Warped Tour Australia is being shown in six of Australia largest travel places including: Brisbane, Coffs Harbour, Sydney, Canberra,
Melbourne and Adelaide. Currently, Melbourne and Adelaide venues have not being announced however most likely to be held at one of the previous spoken about festival venues (therefore search there for accommodation). Brisbane Terrace on Gregory Apartments – a resort style complex located on the fringe of Brisbane’s central district, also known on the corner of Fortitude Valley and Bowen Hills. Terrace on Gregory Apartments is on the “front door” of Brisbane’s famous RNA show grounds. The three minute walk to Brisbane’s RNA ranges from one to two bedrooms but for the price of $200, the small area is worth it. |
Got to know about Groovin' in the MOo
Bluesfest 2014
TransportationDust off your harmonica and get ready for the twang of the banjo, it’s Bluesfest time. It’s not like you really needed an excuse to head to Byron Bay on your Easter break, but here’s one that will have you swinging and twisting yourself happy. To get there isn’t too hard, only
a couple of hours from Brissy Airport, see here. Alternatively you can carpool with some strangers with this virtual hitchhiker service like Woodford offered. WeatherAhhhh the beach, dolphins, surfers and serenity. Until it gets slightly windy and the sand goes from feeling all nice between your toes to feeling all “blah, get out of my mouth.” Bluesfest is hidden away on a beautiful property away from the sea side, but you will likely spend a heap of your free time there, (it’s Byron Bay, you’d be mad not to) so cross your fingers for “beach weather.” 2011 was the driest Bluesfest in quite a while so maybe 2014 will follow suit, otherwise it might ruin your festival holiday and that would be a total boo’s-fest.
Koala ProtocolYou might run into some gorgeous furry Aussie friends at Tyagarah Tea Tree farm, no not the John Butler Trio, koalas! Tyagarah is home to many of the fellows and cares a lot about them. So there are a few
things the organisers request of the good people to protect the good koalas. No dogs, 8km speed limits and koala VIP areas (signed ecologically sensitive areas). Koalas are pretty chill guys and would rather the crowds be around the artists and not them, but if they hear their favourite band playing of course they’ll come out and have a dance. Accomodation |
Everyone stresses about Bluesfest’s location but rest assured getting to and from the festival is hassle free. Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm is the home of Bluesfest and is located in the middle of Byron Bay and Brunswick Heads. From Brisbane’s Gold Coast airport (which many of Bluesfest’s go’ers arrive in), is a 45 minute drive to the amazing Bluesfest’s grounds. Otherwise catch a plane from Brisbane International airport for an hour and three quarter flight with a thirty-five minute drive to the grounds.
The campsite is located on the grass field adjacent to the Festival Grounds with buses running to and from town. Much like Woodford, Bluesfest also have Tent Motels where tents are already pre-set up for your enjoyment. Or if you want to stay in Bluesfest paradise Large Canvas Tipis’ are
available. The larger groups can comfortably sleep six people or there are 2-4 person holding Tipis. Tipis are reasonably expensive ranging to $890.00 for the five days, however it’s worth the stay if that’s the bedding you are after.

Woodford Folk festival
a tent in the woods(ford)To ensure Woodford gives you the best experience, the way to go is staying on-site at Woodfordia. There are various options in which you can
take when camping. 1. Set up your own campsite – This is set up for families to bring their own tent and not have to worry about booking tickets. However, ground cannot be perfectly level, so it is first in best dressed to get the best camping spot if this option is chosen. 2. On-site Tent Motel (Tent City) – This is created by Woodford to show how much the community means to them. Erected tents and beds are available for hire on site at the festival so individuals don’t have the stress or worry about packing their own. More information about camping can be found on Woodford Camping Website at: http://www.woodfordfolkfestival.com/prepare/camping.html AttendanceThe festival draws crowds of people every year, with an accumulated 117,000 last year. With these amounts of people, lots of them camping out for the entire festival, facilities have to be top notch. So when you go to Woodford, there isn’t much you can’t get. Don’t stress if you leave your toothbrush at home, there are plenty of places you can pick one up there. Organisers are expecting big crowds this year, with the stellar line-up. Woodford is so much more than music though, it’s like, a way of life man, like, spiritual. This is one reason that the attendees of Woodford are so diverse, guests vary from environmentalists, human rights activists, karma sutra experts, soya bean farmers, raki healers, TV personalities and of course musicians. So whether you’re looking for enlightenment, a debate or you just love that new Julia Stone album, you are catered for. Weather wise!
Prepare for some Queensland summer PMS, storms one minute, hot flushes the next. So patch up any holes in your tent and buy yourself a groovy hand fan from a hippie, you’re set. To Woodfordia! An hour and a half from Brisbane, Woodfordia is pretty easy to get to. Woodford encourage carpooling strongly, they even have a carpool buddy page, http://www.woodfordfolkfestival.com/prepare/getting-here/car-pool.html. It’s like eHarmony but you’re saving money and petrol, eCar-mony. They find people who are heading in the same
direction coming from the same place, and hook you up. Modern day hitchhiking. Here are some more travel options: http://www.woodfordfolkfestival.com/prepare/getting-here/ |
Accommodation after your Big Day out
Although Big Day Out is a one day event, it’s that time of year to make an excuse to make a weekend out of it! Travel is expensive and long way
just for a day and if you’re over 18 it only makes it that little bit worse. If you’re attending BDO with a group and you don’t live thirty minutes within the vicinity (& you’re over the age of 18) our advice is to pay $100 max to stay the night before and the night after with your mates!

An all-rounder
1. The Hilton: The Hilton is a five star resort located in central Surfers Paradise. It has everything a BDO festival-goer needs a 100m walk onto Cavil Beach, a pool and spa located, restaurant, room service, fitness facilities and much more. Their lowest fair is approximately $329 ranging to $550. Splitting that between friends for a five star resort, doesn’t sound too bad at all.

Perth
4.Perth BDO is slowly getting bigger and bigger each year and
hotels are unlimited. Crown, Duxton, Hyatt, Parmelia, Joondalup but your
cheapest option is the three and a half star hotel, Pan Pacific. The Pan Pacific
has various types of different rooms but if you definitely want to still party
it up the Pan Pacific Club room is the way to go, only $255.00 a night between

Adelaide
5. In our advice, Adelaide is the place to travel to BDO, because a weekend of
memories can definitely be made there. With the cheapest hotel rates BDO
festival goers have ever seen, we don’t doubt why people jump at the chance to
stay in Adelaide. With places like Rendezvous, The Sebel, InterContinental, Oaks
and Grand Chifley all costing $159 between three people. There’s no real
explaining to do besides all places are between three and a half to four and a
half stars, a close enough location to the BDO festival and walking distance
from some amazing restaurants and shops.
